Buying a Stairlift

Do I have to pay for a quotation?

Not at all. We provide a free home survey with a no-obligation, no sales pressure quotation.

How much does a stairlift cost?

All products are tailored to your specific needs and therefore, prices vary. They can change depending on the specific stair dimensions, the chosen stairlift model and any additional extras that you choose. Please book a free, no-obligation assessment to obtain a personal written quotation.

About our Stairlifts

When will my stairlift be ready for installation?

Delivery of your stairlift will depend on the type of stairlift you have ordered. For a straight track rail, installation will be between 3-5 working days from receipt of order. For a curved track rail, installation will be between 5-7 working days from receipt of order.

Is the stairlift attached to the stairs or the wall?

Like all domestic stairlifts, ours are attached to the tread of the stairs and not the wall.

What if I have narrow stairs?

Our stairlifts come with a slim rail and a compact carriage. They all have folding arms, seat and footrest, so they fold away neatly when they are not in use. This means they are practical for you and for the other members of your family.  It is only in a small number of cases where dimensions will prevent us from installing.

How long does it take to install and how disruptive is it?

Our stairlifts are installed in just a matter of hours and with the minimum of fuss. Our engineers will make sure your home is left in exactly the same condition as they found it – with the exception of a lovely new stairlift of course! All in all, we do everything we can to ensure that the installation is as quick and convenient as possible.

Do we need to have a power supply or is it run off a battery?

Our stairlifts are battery powered, but we will require an outlet either at the top or bottom of the stairs to keep it charged.

What happens in a power cut?

As the stairlift is battery powered it will continue to work for a number of return journeys (around 8 depending on various factors) even if your home loses power. If you have a powered swivel you will need to use the manual swivel lever.

How long does the battery in a stairlift last?

Depending on usage, your battery should last between 3 to 5 years.

How do the batteries recharge?

All our stairlifts have charge points at the very top and bottom of the track.  When not in use, the stairlift needs to be kept at the top or bottom of the stairs to enable the batteries to be charged.

Is the stairlift noisy?

All our stairlifts are very quiet as they have a battery powered motor, which also ensures a smooth and comfortable ride on your staircase.

Is it easy to operate?

All our stairlifts have a range of features and extras to ensure that use is seamlessly and effortless for all users.  Following installation, the engineer will guide you through every aspect of using your stairlift and won’t leave until you are completely satisfied and confident in using it.  It really is very easy to use and nothing for you to worry about.

How fast does the stairlift travel?

All our stairlifts move at 0.1 meter per second. The average straight staircase in the UK is 4.14 metres, which would take 41.1 seconds one way. The average curved staircase in the UK is 5.52 metres, which would take 55.2 seconds one way.

How much does it cost to run?

On average a stairlift costs only £7.26 in electricity per year to run.

Our Aftercare

What warranty do I get with my stairlift?

Every new stairlift comes with a one-year comprehensive warranty and the first service is free. Our rented stairlifts come with servicing and call-outs for the duration of the rental agreement.

What happens if I no longer need my stairlift?

At Priority Stairlifts, our end to end service means that when you no longer require the use of your stairlift, we can remove and dispose of it in accordance with national environmental standards.

Do you offer extended warranties once my initial warranty expires?

Before your warranty expires, we will write to you detailing our prices relating to servicing and call-out costs.
