Based at the Lifestyle Centre in The Meadows, Nottingham – Advantage Mobility are a charitable Community Interest Company which means they use their profits and assets for the public good.
Feeling both inspired and interested in ways we might be able to help the Nottingham community, we approached the Manager, Laurie, and have set up a charitable payment scheme whereby we donate a percentage of our sales to Advantage Mobility.
About Advantage Mobility & the Lifestyle Centre
Advantage Mobility, based at The Lifestyle Centre in Nottingham (NG2 2JD), sell a wide range of daily living aids and mobility solutions including stairlifts to help residents of Nottingham maintain their independence.
They were set up in 2018 after being concerned with the number of companies that sold mobility scooters, riser recliner chairs, stairlifts and mobility solutions to the public over the internet without any assessment, which could lead to people having products which aren’t appropriate to their needs and therefore put them at risk of injury.
Their showroom in The Meadows Nottingham has a large number of mobility scooters, riser recliner chairs, beds and other smaller mobility products such as walking aids, moving and handling products such as hoists and a wide range of comfort products.
Due to the space available at the Advantage Mobility showroom in Nottingham, we were able to have a demonstration straight stairlift installed at their Nottingham premises – this is only up 5 stairs but customers can ‘have a go’ and get used to the feeling of being on a stairlift. We often find that the elderly in particular are extremely anxious at the thought of having a stairlift installed and using one, often alone. This demo product often eases their fears and reinforces the very important issue of ‘safety first ‘. Feedback on the demo stairlift has been very positive – if you feel you, or someone you know, would like to try it, just turn up – you don’t need to book in advance.
Supporting Local Residents
Since becoming a partner, we are extremely proud to have supported many Nottingham residents by offering advice and guidance in choosing a stairlift. One particular customer’s husband, based in Arnold, Nottingham, hadn’t been upstairs in 4 months and had been sleeping downstairs on the sofa. She assumed that due to lockdown, stairlift providers wouldn’t be able to go into her house. I reassured her that we were classed as keyworkers and that all staff would wear the necessary protective equipment – masks, hand sanitiser, antibacterial wipes etc and she didn’t need to worry. Following my survey, we installed a reconditioned stairlift and her husband is now able to get upstairs safely and has a much more comfortable sleep.
Another customer based in Mapperley, Nottingham sadly required palliative care support. We were able to install a rental stairlift on a temporary basis which allowed the customer to spend precious time at home and in her own bed. Offering palliative care support is a very rewarding part of our business – we are always very sensitive and can often get a stairlift installed within 24hrs. Customer’s families are extremely grateful and many didn’t know the service existed. There is a small installation and removal fee and the weekly rental price is just £10.00 per week.
We also supplied a curved stairlift to a customer in Wollaton, Nottingham who was moving his Gran to live with him. He lived in a large house over 3 floors and we were able to fit a curved stairlift within 5 working days. As his house was very busy with other family relations, we installed a bottom and top parking bend which meant the stairlift was neatly folded and out of the way when not in use.

Priority Stairlifts Nottingham were also able to help a lady in St Ann’s, Nottingham who lived alone in her mid-terraced house. She had been told by other stairlift providers that due to the steep and tight nature of her stairs, she wouldn’t be able to have a stairlift installed and would therefore need to move into a bungalow. Having lived there for over 65 years she was understandably very reluctant to move. She knew and liked all her neighbours and they all looked out for her. Her daughter phoned to arrange a visit after seeing us on Age UK’s list of approved suppliers and I am very pleased to say that we did indeed manage to fit in one of our slimline models. Result – one very happy lady!
In addition, we have helped many more Nottingham residents living in Bulwell, Top Valley, Sherwood, West Bridgford, Ruddington and customers across the whole of Nottinghamshire.
